RAW&SMACK TALK PART 3

RAW TALK 16/5/11

For those of you who thinks The PG era sucks, (Including Myself), I say chillax, cause it just keeps getting better and better each week. The night kicks off by Cena making his way to the ring. Before he could say a word, Riley interupts. Riley says he has heard it all. "Hustle, Loyalty, Respect. I promise, I am going to make the Miz quit on sunday". Then Riley rolls a video footage, times when Miz was champion and he was destroying John Cena.
Riley  introduces The Miz. They make their way to the ring and Riley's speech continues. Then Cena counter speech. Cena said he respects The Miz but...... (Seriously! What is up with this respect shit!)
The Anonymous Raw General manager interupts. Miz can choose any stipulation and any opponent for Cena to face in tonights main event.

Match 1, Kofi Kingston VS CM Punk. A huge number from the crowd were cheering on Punk. It was a good match. With great movement. In the end, Punk hits the GTS and gets the 3 count. After a long losing streak to Randy Orton, Finally, CM Punk picks up a victory, CLEANLY!
In recent weeks, there were speculations that CM Punk does not want to extend his contract at the WWE. I think CM Punk finally signed the contract. Therefore, the victory.
After the match, Punk sits in front of his New Nexus and says that what we just saw was 'leadership by example'. He also says "No more Mr. nice punk".

Match 2, Kelly Kelly vs Brie Bella. I have nothing much to say about this match. It was a typical Divas match, loads of shouting, not that much movement. Kelly Kelly won.
KHARMA! made an interference as usual. Beat up the Bellas! And does her finisher on one of the twins. Kharma goes over to Kelly Kelly and she picks Kelly up and she thwacks Kelly in the forehead before she leaves.

The night continues, Mysterio gives his speech and calls out R-truth. Instead Del Rio comes out. Rey and Del Rio exchanged alot of words in spanish. Mysterio challenges Del Rio and Del Rio accepts. It was a pretty good match. Towards the end, Mysterio was about to hit the 619 but Ricardo Rodriguez absorbed it. The match ended in DQ.  Del Rio continues to attack Rey and then leaves the ring.  R-truth enters the ring. Beats up Rey. Then he gets the mic and as usual the crowd reacts perfectly to everything R-truth says. Booes and What?? everytime R-truth says something.

It's time for the official contract signing between Michael Cole and Lawler. I am not going to say anything about this total waste of time segment. Key point however is when Cole teases his buddy, Swagger and Swagger leaves Cole.

Match 4, Big Show and Kane versus Michael McGillicutty and David Otunga in a Non Title Match.
This match was okay. It was everything you could expect from a match between 2 big guys vs 2 very big guys. In the end, the 2 members of the new nexus were victorious.

MAIN EVENT. Miz calls out Cena and then introduces his opponent, Jack Swagger. He sets up a No Holds  Barred match. It was a good match, in the end though, Cena was victorious. NO, not with the AA but with the STF. (Note: I feel this is important. 2 weeks in a row the win by the STF. Super Cena NEVER wins by the STF, only the AA. My call is, hes slowly turning heel)
After the match, Miz says there are so many ways he can make Cena say I QUIT!.  Riley grabs a steel pipe from under the ring and passes it to Miz. Miz whacks Cena but Cena counters.

I think, Miz is going to win on sunday by a screwjob. Why? because throughout the night, Cena says I will not say I QUIT many times. Especially at the end.. Heres and edited video i found on youtube...

Verdict : 6/10

SMACK TALK 20/5/11

I like Smackdown. Theres not much talking. Straight to the action.

Match 1, Christian vs Sheamus. This match was good. Great pace, great movement by both these superstars.
In the end, Christian manages the victory with an inside cradle.
Mark Henry comes racing towards the ring, both he and sheamus attacks Christian. Randy Orton walks onto the stage and watches whats going on in the ring. After watching the beating for around 20 seconds, Orton runs to the ring and rescues Christian.

Match 2, Brie Bella vs Natalya. Again, its just an average Diva's match. ( I WANT CHYNA AND LITA BACK). In the end Brie got the victory. This time, Kharma didn't show up.

Ezekiel Jackson cut one of the worst promos you will ever see. The audience did not react much at all. And his theme song is horrible. The Corre interfered. (Thank God.). Teddy long comes out and sets up a 6 man tag team match.

Match 3, The Corre vs Ezekiel, Kane and Big show.
I really do not enjoy a match consisting of too many giants. 1 is fun, but more....
Many quick tags in and out, but in the end, Jackson puts Gabriel in the torture rack and Gabriel taps out.

Match 4, Chavo vs Daniel Bryan.
Before the match, Chavo says that unlike Sin Cara that took around 15 minutes to beat Daniel Bryan, Chavo can take 5 minutes. The match starts and theres a clock on the titatron with a 5 minutes countdown.
The time runs out and the match ends in a draw. Chavo is dissapointed and continues to beat up Daniel Bryan. Sin Cara made his way to the Ring, Cara with a rana to Chavo that sends him to the floor.

Now here comes an interesting part, Ted Dibiase comes out accompanied by Cody Rhodes.
Match 5, Ted Dibiase vs Trent Baretta.

I am actually quite impressed with Trent. This guy has great potential. Give him a ladder and he'll do wonders.
In the end though, Dibiase won. FINALLY! So now is there a tag team being formed between Rhodes and dibiase? Or is Rhodes Dibiase's mentor.

Match 6, Great Khali vs Jey uso.
Khali makes his way to the ring without Ranjin Singh.
Khali almost could have lost the match to Jey, but Jinder Mahal made his way to the side of the ring and calls out Khali. He says something in Hindi, I do not knw what but my guess is  "F**k! What the Hell are you doing? Stop this Nonsense and start kicking some ass!"  Then Jinder Mahal slaps Khali. Khali stares at Jinder Mahal, gets back in the ring, and he chops Jey in the head aggresively! He then hits the vertical Chokeslam for the three count. Khali wins. After the match, Jimmy was tending to Jey but Khali beats up Jimmy also.
Jinder Mahal smiles and leaves the ring. (YES! FINALLY! KHALI HEEL AGAIN! Hopefully it becomes a tag team).

MAIN EVENT, Randy Orton vs Mark Henry.
One of the key points is, Randy was wearing an 'Apex Predator T-shirt' and the ring announcer did not mention 'The Viper'. Note also: Michael Cole has started to support Orton. He never used to do that before.
Anyway, the match kicks off, the match was great. (I don't know why many people say Randy can't wrestle. This guy is entertaining). The match ended in DQ  because Sheamus joined Mark Henry and started beating up Orton. Sheamus and Henry continue to beat Orton. Christian comes to the stage and watches. He stretches a little before making his way to the ring and help Orton.

The fans want an RKO. And out came the RKO on Henry...
The thing is... watch what he does after he RKO-ED henry.

Okay.. So what was that about? Honestly, I think he's going to turn heel. I am not joking. His gimmick will be the " laugh and taunt opponent by weird celebration after the RKO" guy. Again, I am not joking.
I really hope he turns heel. This guy is fantastic as a heel.

Verdict: 7/10

Pay Per views!

Most of the PPVs in the past year or so have been rather disappointing. What does an audience seek from a PPV? To me, each PPV needs to be different from the other. Each PPV needs to have it's own special characteristics. Besides that, every PPV should have great promos leading to it and great matches to match the promos.

So the question is, how does WWE make the PPV'S more entertaining and also significant.
The answer, CUT DOWN THE AMOUNT OF PPV IN A YEAR.
I'll explain further. There are currently 13 PPV's booked in a year. WWE should cut down the amount of PPV's to just 7. 7 PPV'S evenly spread over the course of 12 months.

Breakdown:

BRAGGING RIGHTS + WWE DRAFT (Early May)
I think the bragging  rights PPV and the WWE Draft should combine. This would certainly make the event more interesting. Each match, SD vs Raw and then the draft. This PPV would be the mark of an ending and a new beginning.

SUMMERSLAM (Late June)
After the draft, new feuds will be formed. WWE could nicely build on the feuds in May, and then hit Summerslam in June.

NIGHT OF FURY (Mid August)
Personally, I feel that Extreme Rules, TLC and Money In The Bank ladder match are all quite similar. So why not fuse them into one NIght Of Fury. The main event would be The Money  In The Bank match.

SURVIVOR SERIES (Late October)
Yet again, a months break between August  and October where the feuds could get heated up and then put their bodies on the line at Survivor Series.

ROYAL RUMBLE (Early January)
And now we begin the road to WM. I preferred the rumble when it was 30 superstars and not 40. With less superstars, it means more time for each superstar to showcase their talents. WWE also should not reveal too much about who's going to be involved in the rumble. Not knowing who's coming and when they are coming increases the suspense and the thrill of the Royal Rumble.

ELIMINATION CHAMBER (Early March)
The final road to WM. To me, this PPV is excellent, so I wouldn't change it.

WRESTLEMANIA (Early April)
This is the Grandest Stage of all. The Showcase of Immortals. All feuds must come to a conclusion at this event. (I have given my take on how WM should be in one of my earlier post)

Well that concludes it. All PPV's are spread evenly. This way WWE creative team can actually build and produce enough heat in each feud without rushing. This will also increase the significance of each PPV.

RAW&SMACK TALK PART 2

RAW TALK. 9/5/2011

I must admit, things are starting shift to a higher gear in WWE. The day started with an excellent promo. Del Rio, Mysterio, Miz and R-Truth were in the ring. All debating on which of them should be the No.1 contender to face  Cena for his WWE title. This segment was pretty good, especially R-truth. Even Ricardo Rodriguez, Del Rio's ring announcer did an excellent job. The promo was interupted by The Annonymous Raw General manager, fixing the main event match as a triple threat match featuring, Rey Mysterio, Alberto Del Rio and The miz.
Next, a divas tag team match. KellyKelly&Eve Torres VS The Bella Twins. Kelly pinned one of the Bellas to win the match. It was a pretty stale segment until... KHARMA. Yes! Kharma made an entrance yet again. This time destroying Eve Torres. So for those of you, who are sure that Kharma is "face", think again.
We then continue with a matchup between Kane vs Mason Ryan. This match showcased Mason Ryan's strength. The match was interfered by David Ortunga and Michael McGillicutty attacking Kane. Big Show helped Kane and they cleared the ring. This match entered in a no contest.
I like the way the WWE is building Mason Ryan's character. Unlike what they did with sheamus 2 yrs ago. They rushed Sheamus to the main event and now hes a mid carder again. The slow but steady progress of Ryan is good.
A match featuring Dolph Ziggler and Santino followed. Not much talking points in this match up. Ziggler ended it with a Zig Zag.
There was a back stage segment featuring R-truth. Yet again, R-truth never failed to entertain as a heel.
One of the best moments of the night was, a 5 second segment featuring Zack Ryder and John Cena. This received an incredible amount of pop. (I know, many of you might be thinking why Ryder isn't given a push that he deserves. I have reasons that might clear your doubts. But more on that next time.)
There was another backstage segment, in which Alex Riley was appologising repeatedly to The Miz about what happened last week. Alex Riley then marched out to the ring and called out Cena for a challenge, to prove his worthiness to The Miz. Riley got him in a headlock but Cena fought out and knocked him down with shoulder blocks. He followed with the Five Knuckle Shuffle and Attitude Adjustment. Cena locked in the STF and Riley tapped, making Cena the winner.
What is Raw these days without a segment featuring Michael Cole. Cole enters the Ring and announces that he has retired from in ring competition. This announcement received a major pop from the crowd.
Then there was a match between Kofi Kingston and Jack Swagger for the United States Championship. A distraction by lawler allowed Kofi to connect with the trouble in paradise, and then the pin for the win.
Lawler attacked Cole by repeatedly choking him with his tie. Swagger said Lawler was fired, but Jerry reminded him that he hadn’t touched Cole, only his tie. Swagger accepted Lawler’s challenge for a match at over the limit on Cole’s behalf.
And finally the main event. The triple threat match featuring Rey, Del rio and The miz. The match was in quick mode, with no competitor gaining offense for long. Del Rio got Mysterio in the cross armbreaker but Miz broke it up. Riley came out to help Miz and distracted Del Rio. Riley stopped Rey from pinning Del Rio, which allowed Miz to pin Mysterio to win. Cena came out and congratulated Miz. He said he’d chosen the stipulation match for Over the Limit: an I Quit Match. Back in the ring, R-Truth attacked Mysterio.
All in all, i say it was an entertaining night.

verdict: 6/10

SMACK TALK.  13/5/2011

The day kicked off with a video on Christian finally winning the World Heavy Weight Championship at Extreme Rules, then losing it 5 days later to Randy Orton. In my last week's rendition of Smack Talk, i stated how there would be 3 possibilities. Unfortunately, the 3rd and worst possibility occured.
Christian came into the ring and cut a promo. It was utter rubbish. He stated how he respected Orton, etc. So,  no one is turning heel? This is just bull s**t. There is going to be a rematch at Over The limit. I am sure the match is going to be great, but now we can almost gurantee that Orton is going to win and retain the title while Christian will slowly fade away into the mid card section again.

Anyway, as Christian was giving his speech, he was interfered by Sheamus and Mark Henry. Finally the night started to pick up some speed. Sheamus and Henry moved in to attack Christian before Randy Orton raced to the ring to help Christian. With the help of The Viper, Captain Charisma cleared the ring.
Next was a match featuring Sin Cara and Daniel Bryan. This was a good match. Bryan's technical ability mixed with Sin Cara's highflying, brought out an explosive match. Sin Cara won Daniel Bryan with the help from Chavo. Sin Cara, however did not want Chavo's help. Things started to heat up between Chavo and Sin Cara. A match at Over The Limit maybe?
The night continued by a promo by Layla and Michael Cole. Kharma interfered and finished of Layla. After a couple of weeks of destruction towards the heel divas, Kharma moved on to the face divas. First Eve Torres on Raw then Layla.
After that, was a match featuring Wade barrett and Kane. Barrett was accompanied to the ring by The Corre. During the match, as usual The Corre interfered and started beating up Kane. Ezekiel Jackson made an entrance to try and rescue Kane, however, the numbers game paid off and The Corre had the last laugh.
Following that was the return of Khali's Kiss Cam. It was pretty lame until Jinder Mahal made an entrance and slapped Khali a couple of times.
Then there was a backstage segment featuring The Corre. Barrett set up a match with Ezekiel Jackson at Over The Limit for the Intercontinental Championship.
Then a match between Rhodes and Dibiase. Rhodes told his employees to hand out paper bags to the crowd and handed Dibiase a paper bag himself. Rhodes new gimmick is really paying off for him. His heel promos receive alot of  heat from the crowd. This guy is definitely going to be a main event heel is a year a so.
Cody Rhodes won this match easily. And thus continues Ted Dibiase's long string of losses.
The main Event featuring Christian&Orton VS Sheamus& Mark Henry was Excellent. Lots of action by all four of them. There wasnt a missing thing in this match. There was also the very rarely seen KillSwitch and ofcourse the RKO!. Christian& Orton picked up the victory.

Verdict: 7/10

A New Beginning.

As of last sunday at extreme rules, it can be said that a season of wwe has concluded. Things have changed since Extreme Rules. Is it the end of the Era of Awesomeness since The Miz lost his title to John Cena? After 17 long years, Christian finally won the World Heavyweight Championship.
Before i move deeper into the topic, let me refresh your minds on the 2011 WWE draft.

Anyway, enough of small talk, fast foward to present times and Raw talk.

RAW TALK. 2/5/2011

The most electrifying birthday in all of TV. Well thats what The Rock said anyway.
Past monday night, Raw kicked off with a bang. A video on the 9/11 incident followed by the national anthem by non other than THE Jillian Garcia. This was very emotional not just for America but for the world as well. After that The Rock came in, and before starting his speech, said, FINALLY, WE'VE GOT HIM, followed by the pledge. After that it started to get draggy. The Rock is definitely the best mic worker in WWE history, but his speeches are slowly turning from epic to just plain. 5-10 minutes with The Rock is electrifying, any longer and it becomes annoying. The Rock's speech got interupted by the Raw GM and Michael Cole. This segment was entertaining, with the Rock Bottom and the Peoples Elbow but like i said, it was a little draggy.
Next was a performance by Pitbull. I felt this was okay. Pitbull didnt take up too much time. Just a couple of minutes and there were the hot Miami Heat cheerleaders dancing in the background.
Another bad thing about The Rock's lengthy segments is that it cuts out the time for other superstars to perform. R-truth & Morrison were just given around 5 minutes in which R-truth bashed up Morrison.(still no R-truth heel song).
There was a tag team match between Kofi&Rey vs Swagger&Drew, with Alberto Del Rio at the commentary table apparantely scouting new competition. This match was average but it looks like theres going to be another Del Rio-Mysterio feud.
Another interesting part of the night was Mason Ryan man handling Kane and then the spear to Bigshow. Following that he walked away from his group despite CM Punk ordering him to come back. Is this the end of nexus?
Kharma made an entrance just as a match between Kelly Kelly and Maryse were about to kick off. Kharma did her finisher to Maryse while Kelly Kelly sat at the corner of the ring, stunned, looking as if shes seen a ghost.
And the main match of the night was the rematch between John Cena and The Miz. This was a great match. A hundred times better than the match they had at wrestlemania. The Miz won but got then got disqualified, so and still the WWE champion, John Cena. End of the Era Of Awesomeness? Maybe.
Finally the shows main event. It was completely boring if u asked me. The Rock said a few thank yous, then the surprise entrance by the chairman himself. He also said his thank yous and presented a video on The Rock. It finally ended with the birthday song by Mya and the rock saying his catch phrase.
All in all, it was okay. Quite entertaining at some points, not so much wrestling though. Was it the most electrifying birthday ever? Hell NO.

verdict: 5/10

SMACK TALK. 6/5/2011

The most electrifying man's birthday on Raw as compared to plain Smackdown. Ill tell you what, Smackdown was a Millions and Millions times better.
There was plenty of wrestling, and every match was good.
I'm just going to rush through the programme as there is one match in particular that i want to stress.

There was  match between Sin cara and Tyson kidd. Sin Cara never failed to dissapoint. Many spectacular stunts and the win over Tyson kidd.
Layla also pulled a win over Alicia fox. Ofcourse that wasn't the talking point of the match. Kharma made an entry again. Smashing Alicia Fox this time.
The match between Sheamus and Daniel Bryan was nice.Sheamus got the victory.  An old feud rekindled maybe?
One of the significant matches of the night was between Ezekiel Jackson and Big show. All the members of The Corre were present to distract Big Show. The Big Red monster was present as well. An impressive powerful performance by Jackson led to his victory over Big Show. After the match, Ezekiel Jackson left the members of his group behind(quite similar to Mason Ryan on Monday) and walked towards the lockar room. Unlike the members of The New Nexus, members of The corre couldn't let him walk away. Barrett, Slater and Gabriel paid a visit to Jackson in the locker room and gave him the beating of his life. End of The corre?

And now the main event.
Randy 'The Viper' Orton VS 'Captain Charisma' Christian.
The match was a good one. In the end, the RKO out of nowhere struck and Orton became the new World Heavy Weight Champion. After 17 years of hardwork, Christian lost his title within 5 days(I knw Smackdown is taped on tuesday. But officially it's still Friday Night Smackdown) to Randy Orton.

So, here's my take on the whole thing.
Honestly, I thought it was awesome. I am not being biased. I actually thing this would benefit the both of them.
Okay lets imagine that didn't happen, Christian still the World Heavy Weight champion. He would still be the B guy on Smackdown. Randy Ortan would still main event most of the matches. Eventually Randy Ortan would win the title and thats it for Christian's moment in the light. Is this what most fans are asking for??
To be honest, I think the fans screwed Christian up(If u call it screwed up). Many of you might not realise, but  i think Vince did an experiment on monday. Remember Christian's appearance backstage with The Rock? The fans didn't actually react much. Which just proves Vince Mcmahon's point. Christian cant draw an audience attention.
The situation now is this.....
Before the match at Extreme Rules, Christian mentioned he finally deserved to touch the World Heavy Weight title.(Note emotional moment no 1). Then Christian won his title at Extreme Rules, Edge entered the ring gave his best friend a hug.(Note emotional moment no 2). On smackdown, they showed a short video on christian finally winning it after 17 years.(Note emotional moment no 3).
The main event,(Note: The main event was chosen by the fans. Teddy long gave the fans a choice between Khali, Henry and Orton. If the fans chose Khali or Henry, the results would be different) Orton won the title. 3 emotional moments crushed just like that. And what do i say about that? Awesome! Thats what i say.
This situation has finally made the WWE universe, get behind Christian and really support him. After 17 long years, i think Christian finally got the push he needed, not by winning but by losing.
This situation, also made the crowd lash out at WWE'S no 2 babyface, Randy Ortan. How is this good? I'll explain further.
Orton winning Christian opened 3 situations: It could be Great, good, or bad.
1) Orton turning heel- Now this would be great. I feel Orton is a much better heel than face. I think he could            be the greatest heel in WWE history. Especially with most of the wwe universe lashing out at him, a heel turn would be perfect.
2) Christian turning heel- This situation is possible but i think it's unlikely. The story could be, Christian seeking revenge because Orton "stole" the title from him. New song, new look, new found aggression, Christian turns heel. Though it sounds interesting(atleast to me it does), with the whole crowd behind his back. I dun think it's possible to turn him heel. Besides, I don't think he will be able to pull off a heel role as well as Orton.
3) Nothing much happens- Now this would be a bad situation. If vince and his creative team do this, then I would be pissed. Christian losing his rematch, they shake hands, nobody turns heel. But this situation is close to impossible.

So this is a push for Christian because he could be the main hero of Smackdown, and Orton the main villain. No more Edge's sidekick, No more getting less cheers than Orton. He would be the man, and i feel this feud should stretch to atleast 2 or 3 PPV, Christian should lose at Over The Limit, And when he finally wins it back in Summerslam, imagine the crowds reaction to that. Imagine the emotion in that.

One thing i'm sure about the WWE is... the Good guys always win eventually.
